Arts Activities Abound in May

April showers may bring May flowers, but there's something else popping up around town this month. A couple of organizations are embracing the arts.

If you want something to do with the kids this weekend, consider heading to the Red Balloon Center for The Power of Play: Celebrating Young Artists. Starting at 4 p.m. on May 3, a range of activities will be primarily geared toward children seven and under.

There will be an art scavenger hunt, a glow-in-the-dark exhibit, and many opportunities for families to create art together.

During May, Stafford Library will host the Stafford Public Schools’

District-wide Art Show. Look for work by artists from all over the Stafford school system and from homeschool families. The walls will be bright with color as the town celebrates these young artists' creative spirit and remarkable achievements.

The show will open on May 8 with an opening night reception. Join artists, their families, and their teachers in the library's community room starting at 5 p.m. for light refreshments.
