Candidate Q&A: Rob Proulx, BOF

Several weeks ago, Stafford Free Press sent questions to the Selectmen, Planning & Zoning, Board of Education, and Board of Finance candidates via the Democratic Town Committee and the Republican Town Committee. We gave them a deadline of August 31 and a promise not to edit their answers (even for grammar and spelling). Now, we're sharing the answers we received.

Here are the answers provided by Rob Proulx, who is seeking election to the Board of Finance.

Q: Why have you decided to run for the Board of Finance?

A: I’m currently an appointed alternate on for the BOF and in the last 2-years have learned how the BOS and BOE budgets are presented to the board and the challenges that they bring

I believe my past and current experience can help the people of Stafford ensuring their hard earned tax dollars are spent responsibly

Q: Tell us a bit about your work/personal history and how it would inform your role on the

BOF?

A: I’ve been a business owner in the town of Stafford for 40 years and have completed yearly budgets every year. I know once a budget is set you must maintain that level of income and expenses, if unforeseen items arise, they must be addressed in a way that keeps a balanced budget. I was born, raised and educated in Stafford, raised my family here and grow my business here

Q: What do you feel is the main role of the Board of Finance?

A: The BOF’s main role is to be the over sight for the Stafford’s taxpayers. We must ensure that the BOS and the BOE’s budgets provide premium quality of life and a top notch education all while keeping the town of Stafford an affordable town to live in and raise a family
