Dept. of Veterans Affairs coming to Stafford
If you’re a veteran in the Stafford area and you need to visit the Department of Veterans Affairs, you’re technically supposed to head to Norwich—but that’s about to change. At the October 7, 2026 Board of Selectmen (BOS) meeting, First Selectman Bill Morrison was authorized to enter into a lease agreement and bring a regional office right here to Stafford.
John Whetton, who is on the Veterans Advisory Committee, told the board there will be two full-time veterans’ services officers and an office manager at the new location in what is often called “the green room” at the community center. It is handicapped accessible and conveniently located near the social services office.
He also noted that Stafford has a disproportionate number of veterans. Selectman Anthony Armelin called it a “great addition to town.” Details of the lease agreement were not revealed at the meeting.
Stay tuned for more news and information about when the office will open.
