Letter to the Editor: Our ability to collaborate

It was with great disappointment to learn that some elected officials considered not
running again in the November municipal election due to derogatory remarks,
harassment and threats. Not only are these derogatory remarks and harassments
directed to the elected officials, but they are also directed to their family members. The
harassment, nasty personal remarks and sometimes threats have been directed to all
elected officials whether they are a Democrat or a Republican.
The purpose of my letter is to inform Stafford voters of the increasing negative
sentiment directed at our elected officials, many of whom serve without compensation
and dedicate their efforts to making Stafford a community we can all take pride in.
Our elected officials deserve to have us bring this matter open to our voters. Nationally,
citizens such as us are standing up to the bullying, lies, and unprecedented policies that
are damaging our democracy. Protestors across the nation are bringing their voices and
demands that we are a free democratic nation and will not tolerate the bullying, lies and
threats to themselves and their families. I believe if the citizens of our nation are
standing up, we as citizens of a small town, need to stand up against the nasty remarks,
lies and harassment that have been slowly gaining in our town.
As our campaign is showing our ability to collaborate with both parties for the
betterment of this town, we need to support them fully whether a Democrat, Republican
or Independent. It is my belief that we, the citizens of Stafford, need to be aware of what
is happening in our town and that all our elected officials need our support to end this
hatred against our elected officials, this is of the utmost importance.
Thank you for listening,
Nancy Ravetto
